    Welcome to Center of Balance!

    Indulge Your Health!

Visit our Holiday Gift Giving Guide, full of ideas to make this season special.

Center of Balance has been in business for 16 years.  We have multiple therapists so you are more likely to be able to get an appointment at the time you want it and for the type of massage that suits you best.  Our secretary is on hand 10am -2pm and the phone is manned most of the rest of the time.  We work by appointment, and though we can often accommodate walk-ins, you'll do better to call first.  It might take an hour or more to free up a therapist for you.  Appointments are available from as early as 8 am to as late as 8 pm, depending on the day and the therapist.

New:   Acupuncture at Center of Balance

We are proud to announce that Daniel Lee, Licensed Acupuncturist, will be here Thursday afternoons.  Call for appointment and more information.

A NOTE ABOUT TIMES AND APPOINTMENTS
Our massages last for the time advertised.  Unlike some other businesses, which include the time you take dressing and undressing as part of your "hour" massage, we count our time from when we start working till the hour or half hour is up.  Our price for a 45 minute massage is about the same as local prices for those other kind of "hour" massages.  We usually have half hour gaps between appointments, which keep us on schedule so we don't make you wait, and make us more flexible if you are running behind or come in a little early.  On rare occasions we have to shorten an appointment if you are late, but you will only be charged for the actual time.
We understand that life is not always predictable, so we appreciate it if you can call ASAP when you realize you will not be able to make an appointment or need to reschedule.  Someone else may want your time slot.  We have found most people are considerate, and we try to be flexible for them.

Center of Balance is located at 120 W. 1st St., in the same building as the India Palace.  We are a block north of the historic railroad Depot Museum and across the street from Putnam Printing.  First Street makes a jog on Cedar Street, between the new businesses, Westside Deli and Father Tom's Pub.

TYPES OF MASSAGE WE OFFER INCLUDE:

Truly Therapeutic massage  from Donna Hudson. A licensed massage therapist with 22 years experience, Donna specializes in therapeutic work and problem solving.  Many, many chronic aches and pains and headaches prove to be simple matters, leftovers from some earlier trauma, and can be dealt with in 1-3 sessions, allowing you to get on with your life with far fewer and milder episodes of pain or headache.  If your case proves mysterious or difficult, Donna will be extremely interested in finding the cause.

Therapeutic and or relaxing massage, aka "Swedish" massage   Any good massage is therapeutic, for mind and body both.  We offer GOOD massages, from light Swedish through medium to deep pressure.  You can ask for pure relaxation or focus on an area or two or do both in a session.

Couples' massages are popular all year round, but especially for anniversaries, birthdays, and Valentines day.  It seems to be the most common way to persuade a husband who doesn't believe in massage to try it.  Couples' massages may sound silly, but they have made many a believer of men who thought massage involved cucumbers over the eyes and someone rubbing suntan lotion on you.  Yes, guys, a good massage can make an aching back feel better, relieve a headache, relax tense shoulders, and make you feel like you are walking on air the next day.

Prenatal massage helps alleviate the discomforts of pregnancy.  Our therapists use pillows and special cushions to enhance your comfort as they work.

Hotstone massages are incredibly popular in the colder months, but can be helpful any time of year for chronic aches and pains.  Special smooth flat rocks are heated and laid over your body, and as the heat penetrates your muscles, the therapist massages you with small heated stones.  This is the ultimate in relaxation massage.

Connective Tissue Massage  is referred to by its originator John Latz as "Rolfing Lite".  While not as pleasant as Swedish, CTM does offer long-term changes in muscle tension.

Lymphatic drainage massage helps relieve congestion and get toxins out of the system.  For people who are prone to colds turning into sinus or ear infections, a half hour of lymphatic massage may stop that downward spiral.
